How To Draw A Hand Turkey

Materials for a turkey cartoon…

This is easy, so easy. You and your kiddos will need pencil, paper, and crayons. That's information technology!

Step i of your easy turkey cartoon…

This turkey drawing starts out with a uncomplicated hand tracing- just similar an sometime fashioned hand turkey!

Trace your child's hand or ask them to trace their own paw.  Then reposition your hand virtually forty five degrees and trace only your last two fingers.  This step is totally optional but creates a couple of extra "feathers" and so yous're turkey is nice and full!

Grab a crayon…

Catch a crayon now, any color that you want to use as an outline.  I chose blackness but your outline could be any dark-ish color.

Drawing a few details on your paw turkey….

We're going to add a few additional lines with this aforementioned dark outlining crayon.

• a small triangle for the pecker
• a round blackness circle for the middle, with a white "sparkle" left
• 2 teardrop shapes under the pecker
• Add together a puffy "deject similar" shape for the fly
• a curved line at the summit and the bottom of each plume
• a curved line (or 2) that mimics the lines at the bottom of the feathers
• two set of two directly lines almost each other coming off the bottom of the turkey for legs
• a line that starts at the bottom of one edge of the leg and connects to the to the other side of the leg with a few short zig zags to create "feet"

I love this portion of the lesson considering it'south a spot that you can focus on whatsoever number of concepts that you may be wanting to teach.

In this example I focused on exploring different qualities of line in each finger.  Recollect and talk nigh all those dissimilar kinds of lines that could be included- wavy, straight, zigzags, thick, recollect, dotted, dashed, etc.

This could too be an opportunity to explore colour mixing, a specific colour family unit, patterns, shapes, textures, an more.  This lesson is easily customizable!

Adding colour to your turkey drawing….

In the examples shown crayon was used to add colour simply you could supply your young artists with colored pencil, mark, oil pastels, or whatever you can imagine!

When using crayons I encourage kids to lay down the colour in light layers.  For case, in the pic above I laid downwards a low-cal layer of brown for the turkey trunk. And then, I similar to become back and add some more intense color effectually the edges by pressing more heavily with my crayon.

These light layers of colors also lend themselves well to blending. Lay one layer of color on summit of another for more sophisticated, blended colors.
